Our Process Engineer’s primary responsibilities include supporting sales and business development with new customer products for fit within CJB Industries and identifying, initiating, and implementing process improvement projects that result in improved processes in production as well as providing engineering support for all manufacturing products, processes, and systems. Process engineers work to integrate the entire manufacturing process. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other Duties may be assigned.

Facilitate and provide process engineering expertise for the transition of new products and processes from customer (or R&D) to production.

Perform a thorough review of customer’s inquiry and or request

Perform process simulations and develop equipment layouts, process flow diagrams (PFD’s), and block flow diagrams (BFD’s) when appropriate

Develop innovative ideas and alternatives to be cost competitive with proposals
-
Assist in developing plant control philosophy.

Assist in the development of processing plans, methods, design, materials handling, manpower requirements, cost analysis and other areas as appropriate

Oversee the cost effective, safe and timely completion of projects meeting expectations.

Liaise with contractors, vendors and other stakeholders on a technical level and present reports, publications and presentations in a professional manner.

Apply a sound basic knowledge of safety, environmental and energy-related issues during the execution of projects

Interface with other internal disciplines to ensure a coordinated design and completion of deliverables

Analyze product/process data identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.

Plan, develop and implement process changes that yield improved overall equipment effectiveness (OEE); production efficiencies, yields and rates.

Implement process improvement initiatives that reduce waste and non-value added activities.

Contribute significantly to manufacturing improvement team activities utilizing continuous improvement methodologies; Logic Diagrams, Cause and effect, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques.

Provide technical support on any production/product/quality issues as required.

Evaluate equipment and process capabilities and make recommendations on equipment design and selection.

Provide support for installation and start-up of new processes and equipment.

Develop quality work instructions (QWI’s) and provide training of operators on new and improved equipment and processes.

Working with Health, Safety, Environmental (HS&E) manager and all employees ensure that all production processes are in compliance with or exceed all applicable Federal, State and local HS&E regulations.

Analyze the production requirements of products and assure that cost standards are correct

Optimize line performance in output, standards, and equipment reliability

Assist in the development of changeover procedures to meet customer and company standards

Evaluates Ergonomics of jobs and recommends improvements.

Responsible for reviewing investigations of Non-Conformities and Near Misses as well as training associates in determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.

Responsible for analyzing the effectiveness of manufacturing and packaging output and recommending, implementing, and measuring improvements.

Responsible to ensure good manufacturing practices are adhered to during the production of materials.

Responsible for developing and recommending procedures to produce products that meet customer requirements and have an appearance that projects a positive image of CJB Industries.

Responsible for communicating concerns regarding quality to the appropriate individual up to and including President and working with the Plant Manager to communicate with customers to resolve issues.

Maintain a favorable environment focused on safety, production, quality, team work, housekeeping, maintenance, and documentation according to procedures/specifications/expectations.
Education and/or Experience:
B.S. degree in engineering discipline. 2 to 5 years of chemical engineering background is preferred. Entry level will be considered. Georgia Work Keys Assessment required and can be given on-site at CJB.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None at this time. However, in the future, projects and development may fall under this area.

Language Skills:
Ability to create, read, analyze, and interpret Bills of Lading, Purchase Orders, SDSs, Packaging Sheets, Manufacturing sheets, COA, Formulations, Schedules. Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers, vendors, and visitors.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret graphs, statistics, charts, production and quality data. Ability to read and interpret scales, pressures, flows, and other process instruments and data.

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the designated supervisor or manager.
