Summary:  Salvus is a small, growing, innovative company bringing detection technology to market.  The Lab Technician is responsible for running experiments, testing, documentation, and analysis, and working with the Salvus team to bring products to market to meet customer demands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Other Duties may be assigned.

  1. Read, interpret, follow, and explain testing protocols.
  2. Conduct and document experiments including physical, chemical, and biological testing.
  3. Record, organize, and report on findings and any experimental variables.
  4. Keep lab clean and organized.
  5. Occasionally be available to work extended hours as customer and production needs change.
  6. Dispose of waste materials properly.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Lab technicians may be responsible for assisting with training and supervision of temporary or new employees.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:
B.S. Degree required. Preferably a chemistry or chemistry related degree or biology degree.  Work Ready Test required.  Minimum Scores: Graphic Literacy: 5, Applied Mathematics: 6, Workplace Documents: 6

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written protocols, packaging sheets, and SDSs.  Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and visitors.

Mathematical Skills:
Calculus 1 is recommended.  Other math courses will be considered.  Ability to interpret graphs.  Ability to read and interpret scales.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to hot, cold, and/or damp weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment varies with production activities. Work with biological samples such as blood, salvia, and urine will be required.

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the designated supervisor or manager.
